B i o g r a p h y
Scott Carr, Jr. is a composer, arranger, orchestrator, songwriter, pianist, and guitarist from South Jersey. He began his musical studies at the age of 5 when he began to play the piano. Over the next ten years, he spent time studying other instruments, such as trumpet, bass guitar, and drums. He began playing the guitar when he was twelve and several years later, wrote his first song. He continued writing songs throughout high school, while also serving as guitarist for his father's band, the Scott Carr Band. In 2012, he began studying music at Eastern University. During his time at Eastern, he shifted his focus from songwriting to classical, electronic, and film scoring. In his music, he seeks to create a universal synthesis of styles, drawing on the strengths of music from various historical eras and cultures. His hope is that his music can be a reminder of what is good and beautiful, and a channel of peace to our troubled and broken world.
In 2015, his piece "Pluto" was included on Robert Giracello's CD, "Con Brio", which is currently available on iTunes. During his final year at Eastern University, he composed a film score for the classic motion picture, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, the first act of which was performed by the St. David's Orchestra Society under his baton. On 1 May 2016, he delivered his senior recital to acclaim, culminating his time at Eastern. He graduated cum laude with a BA in Music Composition the same month. He currently is collaborating with His Light Electronic Ministries as a composer for their original faith-based video games and creating a series of pieces for beginning music students.
