2017 is shaping up to be quite the year at Scott Carr, Jr. Music! First of all, my planned self-publishing company is aimed to be officially launched at the beginning of this year, after several detours. Through this publishing company, I will begin releasing my music for public consumption.

The first piece of music planned for release this year is my long anticipated score for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, a part of my culmination at Eastern University is projected to be fully released on Youtube this March along with the full soundtrack posted on Spotify and iTunes. A series of 3 blogs will be posted in lead up for the full release.

Second, I will be taking part in the Marvin Hamlisch Film Scoring Contest with a score for the award-winning short film, The OceanMaker. The contest will be judged by Mychael Dana, the Academy Award winning composer for Life of Pi. The contest takes place in March and finalists will be judged in April.

Also on the agenda for the year is to produce a professional recording of Piano Sonata No. 1 in C Major to be released on Spotify and iTunes. As of right now, this is no projected release date.

A currently untitled 10 minute piece for piano and concert band is being composed with hopes to have it premiered publicly at the end of the year. Also in the works is a piece for concert titled Parade of Banners which will be used by Bruce Outreach Center as part of their Easter banner ceremony this year.

The first two Flight 55 EPs are also planned for this year, one comprising 7 tracks and the other with 5 songs. The first is planned to be released in August with the second arriving in November.

Throughout the fall, I will be composing a series of sacred choral pieces titled Lyrical Prayers. The cycle will be comprised of 15 biblical prayers set for acapella choir. While composed in 2017, this will most likely not be available for release until 2018.

The largest project of the year is another work that will not see the full light in 2017 and that is an original musical tentatively titled Coffee. My goal is to complete the script by the end of this year and begin working on the songs at the start of 2018 in preparation for recording the concept album that same year. This is probably the project I am most excited about and can't wait to show it to you all once it is finished.

Finally, the year will conclude with several Christmas pieces; Christmas Fanfare for Concert Band and three sacred Christmas pieces for choir and piano. Possibly a Flight 55 single will also appear for Christmas, but I haven't made a final decision on that yet.

All in all, this is shaping up to be an exciting year of music! To stay up to date, sign up for my e-mail list and follow me on Twitter and/or Facebook. I look forward to seeing you soon!
