My New Project

I wanted to take some time to let tell you about a new project I am working on. As I've witnessed the parade of students who come to study with my dad, I've thought back on my own young days developing as a musician, the joys, the frustrations, and I've wondered how I might be able to contribute to other musicians just starting their musical journeys. Of course, the corpus of music education literature is already vast, nor am I a trained music educator, so developing a new method is outside my skill set, or the needs of the modern student. What I intend to provide for teachers is a supplement to the excellent methods they already use. Each volume will contain additional pieces developing the techniques and concepts developed in student methods so that when a student seems to struggle with a concept or technique, teachers can easily find an additional piece to give the student additional practice. I aim to instill into these pieces a fun quality which encourages the joys rather than the frustrations or learning an instrument. I have also attempted to hide the techniques and concepts within the fabric of the compositions. Rather than remind the student of his or her deficiencies and the task of learning, the pieces serve to provide the student with simply another way of touching the instrument and the great joy that touch produces.
